Grab your bindle*, and get ready for Adventure!

BIG NEWS! Hobo Annie Hits the Road was just selected as one of the 100 Notable Indie Books of 2016 by Shelf Unbound magazine.

Ten years in the making, "Hobo Annie Hits the Road" is an epic collection of travel journals filled with angst, wonder, and amazing places as described by a late-blooming traveler who almost didn't get on that first plane!
The Kindle version is available on Amazon! (And there is a paperback edition, as well, because I know how much you like to fold page corners--admit it.)
The book has its own website, hoboannie.com, where you can see photos of the places, people, and foods (including a few morsels that were still, um, moving) that inspired me to face my fears and become an explorer. Hopefully, you too will be inspired to get out that door and see the world around you with a spirit of wonder.
*Bindle: a bundle of your clothes and stuff you need to travel the world. A journal. Clean underwear. Snacks. It's a hobo thing.

Scary, Strange and A Little Creepy
Stirring Up Spiders

Check the doors, turn out the lights, and curl up with this tangle of dark tales. Keeping you company is a paranoid suburban housewife, a writer on a deadline, a lost girl and a victim bent on revenge. Spirits will watch over your shoulder as something shadowy taps on the windowpane. And there is one very large empty cage to contemplate. The book concludes with a tribute to that most maligned spider, the black widow, in a tasty bit of poetry about...well, motherhood. Critics have described Howland's work as "gritty" "vibrant" "wrenching" "icky and creepy". See for yourself. If you dare.
Not Like Other Girls

A trio of short stories described by one critic as "delightfully wicked".
'Caregiver', 'Secondhand Hair' and 'Not Like Other Girls' are about relationships and making them work. Or not.
Annie Howland stirs up a disturbing little mix of horror and revenge in her latest batch of dark tales.

Becker

Residents of the small community of Becker wake to find their town caught in the grip of a bizzarre, seemingly supernatural event. What could have caused this strange and disturbing phenomenon?
Clever and rich with imagery, this short story will remind you that not all mysteries can be explained...or can they?

Is that it?
Nah, there's more: scary shorts, a Highlights Magazine story, poetry, sci-fi, a middle-grade novel in the works, YA horror, adult paranormal, postcards from beyond...but if I keep polishing this site like a lovely poisoned apple, I'll never get back to writing! You'll just have to be patient. I know you can. Eat some chocolate.
